All was great .. the staff was very courteous but the boat itself could be better equipped and maintained .. but overall a comfortable ride and will do it again (and take care of asking for all I need and not hope some basics like good music system or wine glasses will be on board)
My first time sailing solo went great, thanks to Harris! He gave me all the info I needed and rescued us when a rope got stuck in the propeller. Harris called divers, and they fixed it in just two hours, making sure the boat was safe to sail. I'd give Harris a perfect 10 out of 10 for his awesome support! Couldn't have asked for a better experience on my first solo sailing trip. Big thanks to Harris!
The boat was great! The renter was extremely helpful and generous! If I could I would give 6 stars.
We spend a lovely week on board of the Aias. With a crew of 6 people we had plenty room on board. Harris gave us a clear and detailed explanation before departure. He gave us great tips about the sailing area and places to visit. Highly recommended!
Very well maintained boat. Electronics could be improved with an in-built map and a wind indicator on both sides (as of now, only on the left). Overall, very great time spent onboard.
Aias was such a good rental boat. The words to describe it best are : easy, comfortable and safe. We were happily surprised by how polite and caring was Harris, both before our arrival and when he introduced us to the boat. He took the time to give us a full tour, explained all the systems and the specifications of Aias. (He even gave us some weather updates just in case we haven’t seen it.) The boat was sparkling clean and everything worked well (which is rare on a sailboat)! We were two couples so we enjoyed the possibility to put our luggages in a different room than ours, but 3 of the 4 cabins have a wardrobe to put stuff away. We have been sailing for some years and we are pretty focus on performance so Aias didn’t quite respond to our requirements in terms of fine settings and sail adjustments, but we were still able to sail in good winds (above 10knts). The boat is quite heavy and the main sail cannot be flattened,as the outhaul doesn’t work properly, but we told them and maybe they will fix it. As the genoa is on a furler, it is not the best sail to sail upwind, but it was still fine overall for a vacation! We enjoyed the big anchor and chain as well as the windlass, which works perfectly, as both mooring and docking require to anchor. Even if the motor was not that powerful, the dinghy also worked well and we were able to be four adults in it for good distances. The Saronic Islands are very pretty. Our preference was Aegina. Idra is also very nice, but the port experience is a bit chaotic, so we recommend going to Mandraki Bay which is 5 minutes away by taxi boat or 30 minutes by walk on a scenic pathway up on the coast. Overall, we recommend renting this boat without hesitation!
A lovely 8-days holiday in a sailboat that was perfect for us, 3 adult guys from Sweden. Everything on the boat worked perfectly. The only issue to mention was that the chart plotter was mounted inside the boat. The solution was to have this one connected to a mobile phone. Not a good solution but, a solution. At the embarkment we were welcomed by a very nice person that gave us all the information we needed for a safe journey. :)
We had an amazing 5 days exploring the Saronic Islands in the West Aegeen sea west of Athens. The boat was well equipped with everything we needed and Harris was available for any questions we had during our time. We found his induction and answers to questions extremely useful. Many anchorings and marinas are within a couple of hours sailing which gave us plenty of choices to suit the weather conditions. We choose not not enter marinas but to anchor outside and use the dinghy to row or motor ashore giving us more freedom to come and go without any stress of berthing. The main battery remained charged throughout the time by the solar panels and occasional use of the motor when the wind dropped below 2.5kts. The boat will comfortably do 8.5 on a beam reach with 15kts of wind. Conditions were surprisingly varied for September, from no wind and flat sea to 24kts and rough sea within a short period of time, so worth checking the forecast each day. Most days were perfect sailing conditions allowing us to explore. Kanakia beach on Salamina is a handy 1.5-2hr sail from Pachi port on BF4 so we anchored there on our first and last nights. Agios Thomas Diaporion was beautiful for a snorkelling lunch stop, and a very peaceful place. Port of Aegina was a good central place with lovely market stalls, Tavernas and supermarkets. Easy to find an Anchor spot and pop in for lunch or stay the night. You'll need to watch out for the fast foiling ferries. Epidavros had a great atmosphere with lots of lovely places to eat. We had an attempt at finding the sunken city of Epidaurus in the next bay, but we over shot it slightly with the dinghy so will save this for our next visit. We sailed down the west coast of Methana, we were going to stop at Vathi however conditions were not the best for entering the marina and not a lot of spare time remaining so headed for a safe haven on Paralia Kilma, south west of Egina with two stern lines. One of the favourite places we stumbled across was Aparalia Aponisos on Agistri west coast (anchor with 2 stern lines); a lovely, beautiful small beach resort with a small tavern .
Charalampos was available all the time before and during our trip with clear and fast answers. The boat was as described, very clean and will all described amenities on board and clear attention to detail. It is a great maintained 2008 boat. On the negative part: - the gps Garmin is available only in the cabin. It can be synced on guest mode with the phone - but not very useful when sailing - no usb port on the helm to charge a portable device; - no inverter on board; - the nespresso machine will work only when connected to the power Pachi marina - even if not Alimos and maybe a little far from Athens it is a very small and nice marina.
