Visit Ajaccio, the imperial city

Considered a must-see place for boaters in Corsica, Ajaccio is home to two marinas

L'Amirauté, or Charles Ornano, can accommodate up to 500 boats, making it the larger of the two Ajaccio marinas.  Being more out of the way, the port de l'Amirautéalso has a lot of cachets since it offers an unobstructed view during a stroll along the docks at sunset.

The mountains are never far away and contribute, also largely to the beauty of the landscape. Just behind the old port, one can see the ferries docking. It's a real ballet of comings and goings that is impressive to watch. When you return from your sea trip, you can also enjoy a drink in one of the bars at the foot of this port.

The second port, Tino Rossi, is more sporting as it is favored by prestigious sailing events such as the Régates Impériales, the Voiles de l'Espoir, the Corsica Classic, and the Mediterranean Trophy.

Ajaccio's ports have the immense advantage of being in close proximity to the airport. As soon as you arrive on the island of beauty, you can easily refuel in the port and cast off.

What to do in Ajaccio?

Between Calvi and Propriano, Ajaccio is a popular destination for sailors who sail around Corsica, but also for tourists who want to visit the citadel that saw Bonaparte born.

Hiking, canyoning, or mountain biking, the most adventurous will find their happiness among the possible activities in Ajaccio. The activities in the water are also numerous on the island of Beauty: sailing initiations, catamaran trips, discovery by boat of the natural reserves, water skiing, scuba diving, etc. With its beautiful coasts lined with an explosive blue and its rocky mountains, Ajaccio is an excellent starting point for a sailing boat rental in Corsica.

When to sail in Ajaccio?

The best time to sail in Ajaccio remains the high season, which runs from mid-April to mid-October.

However, due to the very high number of tourists in July and August, we still recommend that you anticipate your cruise reservations or sea trips. In order to ensure availability during these very high season months, we recommend that you book as early as December/January.

Beyond the summer period, a majority of the fleets are wintering on the mainland, the choice and availability of boats for rent in Ajaccio will be very reduced.

We went to Parque Naturelle de Scandola and other nice places- beautiful landscape worth visiting! Enjoy swimming and snorkeling in blue lagoons and have a pick nick at one of the most beautiful places in the world. People in Corsica are throughout the island very kind and helpful, even if you don‘t speak french fluently.

Pascal was most helpful and went so far as to bring his boat 6 hours from Ajaccio to Porto Vecchio. The boat is beautiful and very well arranged with numerous nice places to sit and enjoy the ride. Pascal was helpful and we had a simply perfect day with nice touches like pouring a glass of champagne for the adults and sharing his kids lego with the kids! Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic experience end to end with Thomas and his boat. First he was very responsive and clear and accommodating when we reached out through click&boats. This made things smooth and re-assuring even before we met. The boat is great and as per description. No surprise. It is comfortable and well designed, and quite photogenic. The day at sea itself was just amazing, which is largely Thanks to Corsica itself but it helped that Thomas knew the area so well and sailed us to the right places and even surprised us along the way. Well worth it for sure. Super thankful to Thomas, but also thankful to Telma from Clickandboats team for the active personal support along the way. Strongly recommend
