Absolutely fantastic! Pierre was a very gracious and accommodating host, and he went out of his way to give us the peaceful sunset sail that we were looking for. It was the highlight of the trip and I hope we can stay with him again.

Annecy is a lovely city around the lake. You cal also find amazing spots in other cities like Talloires or Sevrier. The lake is fairly large and there are plenty of small restaurants on the shore that are worth it. We definitely recommend to visit the lake renting a boat. There are plenty of things to see. We will certainly come back.

La Trinite is a good location to sail from and has good local facilities. There are many lovely places to visit with some very interesting histories. In June, we found that there are relatively limited berthing spaces outside the main ports which have water and/or electric. Be prepared for anchoring & rafting up.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat has some of the best anchoring spots (7 locations all just within 5-10 minutes of each other) on the French Riviera providing protection from waves caused by winds from almost any direction around the Cape. There numerous "Beach Clubs and Restaurants" that will shuttle you from your boat to there locations- insider tip Sundays in front of Eze at Anjuna- from 12:00-18:00- Beach Party with live Music dance till you drop-!

We had a great day with Cyril on his beautiful comfortable new boat! We didn't luck out with the best weather (think gray skies, wind and rain) BUT even so we had a great time. Cyril handled the waves responsibly and we got into Villefranche Sur Mer Bay safely. We enjoyed the paddle board, swam around and jammed to Bluetooth music when the weather tamed down. We've chartered many boats in many countries, Click and Boat was easy and reliable and Cyril was a great captain! Thanks for a great albeit not sunny day!

My family had a day out with Matthieu 6th September. Cannot fault the boat or Matthieu. He was happy to interact with us when it was appropriate ( filming us with lots of fish!) otherwise was very discreet. Lovely boat with plenty of room and very comfortable. Nice area on the bow for sunbathing plus good cockpit and table for eating a relaxed lunch. I would happily rent the boat and Matthieu again.

What can you see and do on a boat rental in France?

There are so many places to see in this rich country that it’s hard to narrow down! Here are some of the top sailing destinations for a yacht charter in France.

Paris

When speaking about France it's essential to mention Paris, the most famous, and one of the most beautiful cities in France and also a possible destination for a yacht charter. For a romantic river cruise where you can see some of Europe’s most important cultural sites and get a proper taste of French culture, visit Paris by boat.

Brittany

In Brittany, a region where boating is a common passion, discover the Emerald Coast. In the north you have Bréhat and Ouessant and towards the south there’s Quiberon, Belle-Île and Bénodet. Sail around maritime cities like Saint-Malo, Quimper, Lorient, Brest, Concarneau and Vannes. And don't forget to navigate through the Glénans archipelago!

French Riviera

On the French Riviera (Cote d’Azur), you will be able to rent motorboats for day trips as well as sailboats and catamarans of all sizes for your cruises on the Mediterranean Sea from Marseille, Cannes, La Ciotat and more. Set sail to the stunning islands by Hyères, discover the Calanques National Park or even cruise around Billionaires' Bay. You can start your mesmerising sailing experience along the French Riviera with a yacht charter in Cannes.

Corsica

On the Isle of Beauty, the change of scenery is unreal. You won’t get tired of sailing to Bonifacio, diving in the Lavezzi archipelago or going to the beautiful Sanguinaires islands.

What is the best time to rent a boat in France?

Sailing season in France is usually between April and October. However, it’s important to know that the water temperature varies according to the region. In Brittany, it is around 20°C while in the Mediterranean, the water is generally warmer and closer to 25°C. If possible, it’s best to avoid sailing during the months of July and August when tourist crowds are at their highest.

Yacht charter in France with a skipper!

With Click&Boat, you can book a boat rental with an experienced skipper in France. A local nautical expert will handle all of the sailing logistics and show you hidden treasures that you might not have visited otherwise.

You will be able to become a competent crew member and take advantage of learning how to handle a boat and become a true sailor if you wish! But if you want to relax, that’s not a problem either. Let your skipper or crew take care of everything from navigating, anchoring and docking. It’s true that a skippered vessel is typically more expensive, but the benefits of having one on board are endless. For a customised sailing holiday, consider charter a yacht in France with a skipper!

What type of boat is best for a France yacht charter?

Finding the ideal boat for your France yacht charter is not always easy. Let us give you some tips on how to find the right type of boat according to your needs & desires.

Motorboats and RIBS

For daily rentals, a motorboat or RIB is your go-to. Contrary to sailboats and catamarans, chartering a motorboat in France will give you access to many nautical leisure activities such as wakeboarding, tubing, etc. In addition, navigating by motorboat or RIB makes it easier to visit small magical creeks.

Sailboats

A sailboat is the boat choice for travellers seeking exploration. A sailboat charter is recommended for cruising along the French Riviera to Corsica or to enjoy the Breton coasts. However, be advised that if you are a novice sailor or if you get seasick easily, a sailboat is not a good choice as it can be unstable and sway a lot on the water.

Catamarans

For a relaxing cruise with family or friends, we recommend a catamaran. It is a spacious and stable vessel, perfect for sailing on the Mediterranean Sea. Due to its design, it will allow you to access unique and less accessible coves and waters than other vessels.

Yachts

Yacht charter in France is a five-star option to enjoy maximum comfort on board during your cruise on the "French Riviera".

Houseboats

Finally, for a river cruise, houseboats prove to be the best choice. They are like floating hotels, perfect for slow-life enthusiasts and tranquil navigation.
