Check-in: Philippe Wattel did a good job in helping us get acquainted with the boat. He was quick and professional. Everything was okay. We had a bit of trouble understanding Philippe as we didn’t speak French and Philippe didn’t speak English well. Check-out: It was difficult navigating the boat back into the slot where we left it. Luckily Philippe Wattel was there, and helped us drive the boat in again. The check-out process was also good, Philippe did a good job. Condition of the yacht: Overall, the yacht was not in perfect condition. We were disappointed about the following things: 1. Yesterday, Saturday 29th, after 1hr of using the motor, we couldn’t turn it OFF. We tried everything on the control pad: Turning the key, pushing the STOP button, switching the small lever on the control panel. After ~30 min, we were successful. I think the control panel might be defective. 2. The service battery (for the non-motor appliances) is VERY weak. We only used the freezer and a few lights, and were overall very conservative with energy consumption, but after ONE evening the battery was already deep in red (empty). 3. The speed meter wasn’t working for the whole time. The sensor was probably clogged with debris, which happens quickly. I had expected a perfect condition. 4. Overall, the yacht was not perfectly clean. Particularly in the storage areas, we discovered hair and other dirt.
Very nice stay on Alamp, left for five days with a crew of six people (quite novices) for a round trip to the island of Porquerolles with various anchorages on the way. Alamp is a proud, very spacious Gib'sea 51 sailboat. At first I imagined that the charter-type configuration with 5 cabins was going to take up a lot of space, but that's not the case, the living space is really pleasant and the comfort is there. A lot of equipment is provided with the ship (paddle board, dinghy, flippers and mask). Throughout the crossing, Philippe the owner remained available and attentive to our needs, not hesitating to be proactive and to alert us to potential swells. He is very responsive and knows his boat perfectly because he makes personal use of it a part of the year. The ship is generally in good condition and well maintained for its age (just like Philippe, certainly), some repairs would be welcome but nothing very impacting, the essentials are there and well functional. We feel safe. - The anchor light is out of order (but easily replaceable by the topsail light). - The log-speedo sensor is out of order, but not really a problem because they are quite fragile and less useful when using a GPS. These failures were of course known and announced beforehand by the owner who gave us a great inventory of the boat during check-in. No bad surprises The ship sails very well, despite its 20 years of existence. The diesel engine runs like clockwork and consumes little. The bow turbine works well and is very practical with a vessel of this size. The sails have been changed recently. The interior and the living spaces are quite clean and relatively well maintained given the age of the boat. There are traces of wear everywhere but nothing shocking. An annex and its 4hp engine are supplied with the ship
Very nice week spent on ALAMP. The boat is well maintained and met our expectations, spacious enough for 10 adults and pleasant to live in. Easily maneuverable and well equipped (a GPS would be nice) it allows you to navigate even in fairly strong winds. The weather allowed us to go as far as Porquerolles with several anchorages without using the engine too much. I recommend this rental, ideal for holidays with family or friends.
We had a great week on Philippe's boat. I particularly liked Philippe's listening and understanding of our requests. The boat is very well maintained for its age.
August 2020. Big disappointment. The Gib Sea is in itself a very good boat but it is so poorly maintained that we were in discomfort throughout the navigation with doubts about the safety of the boat. The equipment was out of order when taking the boat: - 3 out of 5 toilets did not work (clogged toilet, faulty pumps, dirty water was coming up) = 15 days of unpleasant smell in the cabins - The faulty service batteries, we had to wait for two new ones and return to the port of departure to recover them (2 days lost). - A cabin door did not close and other inconveniences (low pressure from the exterior shower, the windlass which often jams, the owner's belongings left in all the storage places) etc. -under the pretext of Covid, we certainly had no sheets, towels but also no pillows! (Not very welcoming and especially not practical to arrive with your pillows! ) - For sailing, a new unpleasant discovery: the two reefs were reversed: dangerous when reefing in a strong wind. As for the staysail sheet, it passed between the shrouds. Survival was not attached to the boat.. This lack of preparation of the boat worried and disturbed us throughout our navigation. We spent a lot of time arranging the situations and even unclogging the toilets of the predecessors. In conclusion, we were not happy with the way the boat was left for us. A laxity that borders on insecurity and makes this service expensive for what it offers.
Listening rental company and good boat for its age :). Some constructive suggestions discussed with Philippe: Operational connections to 220v to be checked. Longer ends for the GV trolley to be planned Auxiliary engine to be provided. Have the operation of the genoa explained to you.
We spent a very good week on this beautiful sailboat which offers beautiful outdoor and indoor living spaces. It is obviously not a new boat but very well maintained The boat is in good general condition despite some small details. Philippe his owner is very attentive and the exchange very easy which is a real plus
Very kind and cooperative!
Super owner's boat (and therefore perfectly equipped) We missed the optional dinghy engine and classic life jackets, but the Set of sails was new, there is a staysail on the second forestay, and the boat has a low draft which was very practical for small ports Everything went very well, no surprises
Gib sea 51 pleasant to sail, 5 cabins ok for 10; presence of a fixed staysail forcing the genoa to be furled at each tack Very useful bow thruster Nevertheless, Deplorable Level of Cleanliness for 180 €; moreover it is a mandatory option !!!! (contradictory !!) Sheet rental option: Yellowish stains and halos on the sheets; more than average for a rental at 50 € / cabin) Soiled interior and exterior cushion and mattress covers; no pillow or mattress pad! Wc or shower cabin malfunction (2 out of the 5 cabins worked properly) Lack of connections for water and electricity connections (not always provided by the harbor master's office) No outboard motor for the dinghy, so very tedious for 10 people
Very pleasant stay on Alamp 2, comfortable and well equipped boat. Philippe was very accommodating and responsive during an electric windlass failure. We recommend this sailboat and its owner. A big thank you to the other Philippe too!
Excellent boat. Very pleasant to live in and to navigate. We had an electrical hazard. The owner has shown impeccable professionalism. I highly recommend !
Beautiful stay spent on ALAMP III. Sailboat maneuverable and comfortable in navigation. Boat manager very friendly moreover! Thank you
Beautiful boat capacity and comfort max. Fast and morning.
Very good boat even without bow thruster. The owner was super friendly and very accomodating.
