Yacht charter in Kissamos, Greece

Located on Crete, Kissamos (also known as Kastelli Kissamou) is a beautiful town known for its olive oil and wine. There is so much to discover in this small town, whether you are with your family, friends, or even by yourself! With its serene waters and historical sites on nearby islands, Kissamos is a perfect place for a yacht charter!

How much does a boat rental in Kissamos cost?

There are many different factors that affect the price of a boat rental in Kissamos, Greece such as the boat type and size, the seasonality, and if the boat is booked with or without a skipper. However, with such a wide selection of boats, Click&Boat will certainly satisfy your needs!

A sailboat in Kissamos for 8 people costs around €3,500 per week throughout the year. A motorboat fit for 8 people is around €850 per day throughout the year.

What is the best time to go to Kissamos?

The best time to visit Kissamos is during the summer, particularly July and August, when it is almost guaranteed to be hot and dry weather. The temperatures average 27 to 30 degrees Celsius every day with around 12 hours of sunshine. Therefore, if you aim to swim in the gorgeous waters, this is ideal.

What can you see on your yacht charter in Kissamos?

While Kissamos may be small, this coastal town is perfect for a yacht charter. You can explore the charming medieval villages, sink your feet into the golden sands on the shores, and then head into the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

If you want to learn about the history and culture of Crete, you should head to the centre of Kissamos. The ancient city has a fortress built by the Venetians called Castello that is a must-see! Similarly, the town is scattered with traditional churches and monasteries that are a great way to get to know the city. For the activity-seekers, you can also climb up the hills of archaeological sites such as Polyrrhenia to get amazing views of the landscape.

For those of you who are more interested in experiencing the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean, you can begin by heading to Mavros Molos Beach. This is the closest beach to the centre of Kissamos, where you can also find various cafes and restaurants nearby. This beach has shallow and calm waters, making it ideal for families with young children. We also recommend you visit Balos Lagoon. With its beautiful white sand and turquoise waters, there’s no wonder this is one of Kissamos’ most popular attractions. It lies between Cape Gramvousa and Cape Tigani, making it best accessed by boat! On top of its stunning scenery, Balos Lagoon is also home to exotic flora and fauna. Once you pass the shallow ends and into the deep waters, you can snorkel to find monk seals and sea turtles! Afterward, you can go to the island of Imeri Gramvousa, located across from the Cape of Gramvousa and Balos Lagoon. Not only is this a stunning island, but it also has historical significance for Crete. This island has an old Venetian fortress from the 1500s and a shipwreck on the shore.

Should you rent a boat with or without a skipper?

When searching for boats on the Click&Boat website, you may notice the option to rent with or without a skipper. Typically, adding a skipper and/or a crew to your experience will increase the price of your rental. However, there are many added benefits to having them aboard. For one, a professional skipper will take care of all the sailing, docking, and anchoring of your boat. This way, you can focus on relaxing and enjoying your journey. They will also be familiar with the surrounding area, so they can take you to interesting places that are unknown to tourists.

Nearby destinations to Kissamos

The longer you have for your yacht charter, the more you can see! You will soon discover that Kissamos has great proximity to some of the other hundreds of Greek islands. If you have less time, you can go around Crete. You will be blown away by the astounding beauty of other cities such as Heraklion, Rethymno, and Chania. If you have more time, you can navigate through the Dodecanese, Cyclades, or Ionian Island groups. For longer rental periods, you can head over to nearby Mediterranean destinations such as Malta, Italy, or Albania! With plenty to see and discover, why not charter a yacht for an extended period?

We stayed in Topolia, that is 20 minutes from Kissamos on the way to famous Elafonissi. It is a quiet place to stay and we suggest it. All the renovated places near Kissamos are fantastic (Balos and Gramvousa) but it is important to find a way to visit them out of the big crowd (renting a sailboat allows you to remain isolated and enjoy the experience fully).

Our day with Sifis was nothing short of incredible. Not only was he super accommodating but he took the time to show us spots/beaches that we never would’ve known of. Sifis had drinks, snacks and a fantastic lunch prepared for us. His friendly personality and stories really made the day the highlight of our 2 week trip in Crete. I would definitely reccomend Sifis to anyone looking for a charter!

We had a great trip to Balos and Gramvousa! Wonderful skipper Themas and his assistant were very warm, welcoming, and professional. They gave an opportunity to perform some crew tasks which I enjoyed. They also taught me one small trick, and Themas gave some skippering advice which was helpful to me since I am learning sailing. The boat is in great condition, both inside and out, and was comfortable for our company of 6. Themas was very accommodating with respect to my parents who are in their late 70s. Lunch was amazing! Overall, we had a great time, and strongly recommend Mitropoulos. P.S. don’t forget your swimming/beach shoes. Gramvousa beach is rocky in the water and the sand on the beach gets extremely hot under the sun.

We had a lovely boat ride on the 15 of september 2023 to Gramvousa and Balos. The crew had an excellent service, there were two people helping and gave us an excellent tour around. Both of the crew members were very polite and excellent cooks. The meal we had on the boat was one of the best meals we had on all our trip. The boat was in good conditions, and we didn’t have any problems. On our case we where a family of 3 people and had to end a little bit early the trip because we had a late plane to catch but the crew was very accommodating to our schedule and made it work. We loved this experience, and I would definitely recommend if you are traveling around Crete, the views were amazing. We also enjoyed the views from the castle on Gramvousa just keep in mind the hike was a little to long.
