Rent your boat for your next holidays in Pescara

The city of Pescara in Abruzzo is located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea at the mouth of the Aterno-Pescara river. Located 210km from Rome, it is the largest city in Abruzzo and is connected to nearby Chieti via a conurbation.

Excellent for boat trips

Pescara is an important seaside resort, and benefits from a climate optimal Mediterranean type with hot, dry summers and mild winters with important sea winds. For these reasons, boat rental in Pescara is an excellent idea to set out to discover the Abruzzo coast with sailing boats taking advantage of the winds or by motor boat to move more quickly along the coast.

A name taken from the sea

In Roman times, the name of the city was Aternum. The name Pescara is taken from the Piscarius river where the mouth was reputed to be rich in fish. In Abruzzo dialect the name is Pescàre. The first inhabitants of Pescara settled on the banks of the river, near the mouth, forming a city called Vicus Aterni, which then took the name of Aternum and later Ostia Aterni. Around the year 1000, the locality took the name of Piscaria, referring to this very fishy area.

City of Dannunzio

The city was conquered by the Normans in the 16th century. A more prosperous period began in the 17th century, both economically and demographically. During the Napoleonic wars Pescara was an important French stronghold. In the 19th century, it remained at the heart of the struggles for the unification of Italy when it was part of the kingdom of Naples. In the Mussolini era, however, a decree - supported by the famous Gabriele d'Annunzio originally from Pescara - will allow the creation of a real city. Pescara has developed in recent years as an important regional metropolis on the Adriatic coast, with a diversified economy and an important tourist function.

A few little curiosities

It should be noted that in the month of July Pescara is home to the Jazz Music Festival one of the most important in Europe and is often advertised internationally. Last curiosity for gourmets, let's remember that the city is home to the De Cecco pasta factory. In short, all good reasons to stop at the port of Pescara after a day spent sailing and go ashore to discover what the city has to offer.
