The bridge that connects the island with the mainland and the airport on the island offer many advantages on arrival! As soon as you leave the sheltered bay of the marina, you are immersed in a quiet and tranquil island world with an infinite number of destinations in a very small space. Because the area is so well shielded from the open Adriatic, it is particularly suitable for families and all those who prefer very calm sailing conditions, but ambitious sailors certainly don't have to miss out on anything either. From Krk, following the chain of islands further south to northern Dalmatia, the highest density of islands opens up and therefore also the largest selection of destinations. The island world has two special features that you should be aware of. Firstly, despite the considerable size of some of the islands, there are no large island centers. Away from the mainland, you should therefore not expect to find vibrant life and crowded promenades on the islands. Instead, you are more likely to find cozy settlements or tranquil fishing villages. However, this does not mean that there are not still plenty of marinas, town harbors, harbor piers, restaurants and village stores. There are also countless options for nature lovers, bay lovers and all those who consider konoba bays to be the best a sailing vacation has to offer. In addition to all the island resorts and anchorages, you can also expect many mooring fields that save you the trouble of anchoring in the bays. The area representatives such as Cres, Krk, Pag and Rab each have destinations for a whole week, such as the sandy beach of Susak, of which there are very few in the whole of Croatia. The outermost and elongated islands of Dugi Otok and Kornat, as well as the countless islands in between, make every sailor's heart beat faster. The other feature of this coast is the famous Kornati National Park, a barren group of islands around the main island of Kornat. This is the epicenter of a popular mooring facility known throughout Croatia: Konoba Bay. This usually refers to secluded anchor bays where a landlord runs a restaurant (konoba) and a jetty. Often very charming little mini harbors in wonderfully secluded natural surroundings, where the rule applies: mooring is free if the crew comes to eat in the restaurant in the evening. There are more than two dozen konoba bays in the 15 nautical mile long national park area. However, it should not be forgotten that sailing in the Kornati National Park is subject to a fee and is not entirely inexpensive. If you don't head for the national park on a cruise for this reason, you will still find more than enough destinations in the ramified island world. Another special feature of the area are the Krka waterfalls, which are also a major tourist attraction for land-based vacationers. For sailors, even the journey there is special: a ten nautical mile trip along the wide course of the river to the pretty little town of Skradin, which also leads through a large lake with further anchoring and mooring options. Conclusion on the sailing area: island diversity, quiet sailing, natural bays, small original villages, no mass tourism, idyllic konobas; An eventful sailing trip is guaranteed!
