Boats Reviews

Douglas
Apr 14, 2024
The boat was well-maintained. The sails were well-worn and stained, but serviceable. The boat systems were all functional. Overall a good experience. I have one issue, and that is that there was apparently two cleaning fees collected, one which I paid online, and another I paid to Denis’ office. I’m not disputing the charge, I’m just noting that it wasn’t clear that there would be another charge.

What can you see and do on a boat rental in Koh Chang Tai?

Koh Chang Thai is a paradise for those who love the water. From its stunning beaches to its incredible dive sites and sailing opportunities, there is something for everyone on this beautiful island. Here are our recommendations for things to do while on your yacht charter in Koh Chang Tai.

  • Go to the beach: Koh Chang Thai is known for its stunning beaches, each with its own unique character and charm. Head to White Sand Beach, the most popular beach on the island, and for good reason. With its powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters, it's the perfect place to swim, sunbathe and relax. If you're looking for a quieter, more secluded beach, Klong Prao Beach is the place to go. This long, sandy beach is surrounded by palm trees and natural greenery, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The water is calm and shallow, making it ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Other great beaches include Kai Bae, Lonely Beach and Bang Bao.
  • Island hop: Cruise over to the small, picturesque island of Koh Mak which features a laid-back atmosphere and gorgeous coconut plantations. Exercise your sea legs and hike through the dense jungle to see the waterfalls at Koh Kood or explore the colourful coral reefs in Koh Rang.
  • Practise water sports: Water lovers won’t be disappointed as there are always many water sports on offer at the island’s beaches. Try kiteboarding, wakeboarding and stand-up paddleboarding or, explore the hidden bays with a kayak.
  • Go diving: Diving enthusiasts will find many dive sites on the island for divers of all levels. Visit the sunken naval ship of HTMS Chang which has now been repurposed as an artificial reef teeming with marine life like octopus and whale sharks. You can also visit Koh Rang, a small island that’s part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park. Discover the underwater world rife with coral, sea anemones and schools of fish. Finally, swim through the various rock formations and caves at Hin Luk Bat. Here you’ll get up close and personal with marine life like barracudas, groupers and even blacktip reef sharks!

What is the best time to rent a boat in Koh Chang Tai?

The best time to embark on a yacht charter in Koh Chang Tai is typically during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During this time you’ll experience warm, dry weather and calm seas, favourable for sailing. However, it tends to be especially busy at this time and December to February in particular, so if you’re looking to beat the crowds and get better deals on Koh Chang Tai boat rentals, you might want to visit during the shoulder season or the rainy season which runs from May to October. That being said, Koh Chang Tai can be enjoyed year-round thanks to its warm weather. Happy sailing!

Yacht charter in Koh Chang Tai with a skipper!

At Click&Boat, we always recommend opting for a skippered boat rental for a more enjoyable experience on the water. Even if you have a sailing licence, skippers can prove to be an asset during your boat trip. They are nautical professionals that will dock, anchor and navigate the vessel for you so that you don’t have to worry about anything but having the time of your life. If you are a licenced sailor and you want to take on the challenge of navigating the waves, skippers can serve as an extra set of hands to ensure the smoothest sailing possible.

But perhaps the best part about having a skipper on board is the fact that they are usually locals of the area, and can take you to see everything on your sailing itinerary and even show you some sights that you might not have known about otherwise. Charter a yacht in Koh Chang Tai with a skipper and enjoy a personalised holiday like no other.

What type of vessel is best for a yacht charter in Koh Chang Tai?

The perfect sailing holiday begins with the best vessel that will suit all of your needs on the water. The type of vessel that you choose will largely depend on the amount of time you plan to spend on the water as this will influence the amenities you’ll need on board. For a shorter getaway, we’d recommend a daily charter such as a motorboat or a RIB. If you’re planning a longer holiday with family and friends you’ll need a more spacious vessel such as a catamaran. These stable vessels are typically rented by the week and they are fully equipped with onboard amenities such as a kitchen, bathroom and cabins for your comfort. If you’re keen on a more traditional and authentic sailing experience you can’t beat a sailboat however we always recommend choosing one with a skipper on board since sailboats can be tricky to navigate.
