Heraklion is a city in the northern part of Crete. It is well known for its historical sites such as Knossos, the fortress of koules, the old city center with the famous lions fountain etc. However it is also one of the best places to have a daily cruise with a sailing yacht as it is the closest port to the beautiful island of Dia ( 6 miles ) which is one of the best sailing destinations. There you can explore the many beaches and bays of Dia which all have their own unique beauty. If you wish to enjoy a day sailing, swimming, enjoying a very rich menu prepared by the finest local products, sunbathing, snorkeling, paddle boarding, fishing and a lot more, please contact us through the Click& Boat platform so we can organize the perfect cruise for you and offer you the most unforgettable experience.

The most common sailing destination close to Heraklion is Dia island. Just an hour away, this place is beautiful and ideal for a day trip that includes swimming, snorkelling, SUP, exploring the island and more.

Amazing place!!! Suitable for everybody!! Excellent restaurants and taverns, Easy to walk around, beautiful sites and museums. Highly reccommended. I would rather suggest to spend at least two full days around the town in order to be able to savor most of it. Check Knossos Pallace (8km away), archaeological museum, and why not a wine tasting tour.

As one of the biggest cities in Greece and the most popular destination in Crete, there’s so much to see and do in Heraklion. Here are some of our favourite things to do on a Heraklion boat trip.

  • Visit Heraklion’s old town and see the 16th-century Venetian Fortress sitting on the edge of the harbour.

Rent a boat in Heraklion with a skipper!

At Click&Boat we have options for bareboat rentals in Heraklion as well as vessels that include a skipper on board. Unless you’re an experienced sailor, we typically recommend hiring a vessel with a skipper. Skippers are experts in sailing and they handle all of the logistics, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The best part is that they are usually locals who can show you all of the hidden gems in Heraklion and surrounding areas, and give you tips to make sure your Heraklion boat trip is the best one possible!

What type of boat is best for a Heraklion yacht charter?

Want to rent a boat in Heraklion but unsure of which type of boat to choose? The answer will depend on what type of holiday you’re looking to have. If you’ve only got a few days to spare we’d recommend hiring a motorboat or a RIB as they are typically hired by the day and they are faster than other vessels, helping you see everything in no time. For a longer holiday with family or friends, choose a vessel you can hire by the week like a yacht or a catamaran. If you’re looking for something a bit more luxurious, a gulet is a great choice and if you’re an avid sailor, a sailboat. No matter what you’re looking for, Click&Boat has got what you need for your Heraklion boat trip!
