Description of Johan's sailboat
Sailboat Maxi Fenix 28 8.3m
Rent our Maxi Fenix for your upcoming sailing holiday in Stockholm archipelago. In July to mid August only weekly sunday to sunday. Rest of the season also preferred sunday to sunday, but more flexible. The boat is based in Gustavsberg, 20 km east of Stockholm. From here you have a good access out to the archipelago and the vast range of islets and various nature environments. In summer time the archipelago blooms and sailors from all over Stockholm set sail to get the best out of it. About the boat: The boat is very well maintained. New laminate sails with Lazy-bag and Furlex. Self-tacking jib and a good rudder lock make it possible to sail by one person. GPS mounted in the wall makes navigation easy. Large new cockpit tent. Electric connection with cable in the front hatch connected to a battery charger and 220V outlet in the kitchen. Requirements: In order to rent the boat we require a responsible skipper (30-70 years old) with proof of nautical skills. No pets or smoking allowed on board. Fuel cost 4 Eur/h Duvets, pillows, sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers (beddings) you have to bring your own. A few life jackets are available to borrow on request, but best if you can bring your own. Please send a request with the dates you are interested in sailing and how many you are.

This boat was a perfect choice for family holidays. We had a great time sailing in the Stockholm's archipelago.
We were looking for the right yacht for the archipelago of Stockholm, Scharengarten. Last time we had booked a "normal" Yacht and felt unhappy due to the small bays, the anchoring maneuvers at the rocky coast etc. Now we found the real, the perfect boat. Small, simple, tiny but spacy enough, maneuverable, little draft... Johan answered all questions that we had prior the trip, all was clear before we came there to take over the boat. The communication during all times was clear and kind. The boat itself was perfect for our needs and our purpose. Of course it it 28 feet long and not a 45 feet luxury yacht - we knew that. But it was realiable and good to handle under engine as well as sails, the anchor was well-placed and worked precisely. All equipement (kitchen, toilet, water supply etc.) worked reliably, too. We were more than happy with the boat and will take exactly this one (or that type) for thje next trip. And we will prefer Johan as well for the next trip. So we recommend Johan as well as the boat!
ideal boat for exploring the Archipelago with two or three people. Jan and Johann are very friendly and supportive. the boat itself is surprisingly in a good shape considering its age. it is fun to sail! has got a very reliable engine and nearly new sails. Although we stayed away from marinas for several days we never ran out of electicity. We had a perfect holiday and will be back. Thank you!
Acquarius is fundamentally a good boat and in reasonable condition for her age. The Stockholm Archipelago is a joy even in bad weather, as we experienced. The motor and Chart Plotter work well and the sails are in good condition. In some respects the inventory needs correcting: there is no autopilot not usable almanac for non Swedish clients. The bunks are small and under the cockpit inaccessible. The handover arrangements for return need to be clearer. A spare, full fuel can would be prudent as would a VHF radio and depth display. But overall ok and the islands are a gem.
We had a wonderful trip. The boat is great for exploring the schären-islands. Jan and Johan are very friendly, flexible and helpful hosts. The boat itself is notably old but the sailing properties are good. The board electronics did not properly work and it was raining in through one window. I believe Jan and Johan were about to fix this though. The bed in the front is very small and very close to the toilet, we did not use it and slept with four people in the salon. This worked fine for us. All in all we had a wonderful week and will probably do it again.
Johan is a good host. He gave us a very good introduction to the boat and was very helpful throughout the rental period. The boat is not new but kept in a very good shape.
We spent one week on the boat, exploring the archipelago in a small group of three friends, anchoring every night and staying completely off-grid the whole time. I cannot imagine a better boat for that. She is really well maintained and generally in excellent shape, especially for it's age. She sails really well, especially on a beat. I think Johan could easily pass her as 25 years younger. I wish modern boats were built like this. I would (and probably will) charter her again. There are just few things to consider if you are used to charters in other locations, but reading the other offers in the area it will be pretty much standard for all charters in Stockholm. There were no lifejackets on the boat (Johan said he can provide them on request. We brought our own inflatables), there is no depth sounder, VHF, life raft or binoculars. You don't need any of that if you stay in the inner parts of the archipelago, but it's something that might surprise you. The boat runs on some sort of biodiesel, it has many advantages (doesn't smell or smoke, which was really pleasant), but you can't top up the tank in the very unlikely case you run out of the fuel. It made me a bit range-anxious, I think it would be nice to have spare in a jerry can. Also you pay for the fuel by hour, but it's all in the description so you shouldn't be surprised. In overall I was really satisfied.
The boat is excellent for exploring the Archipelago. Shallow draft and easy to maneuver. Perfect to tie to the islands. She sails very well with her new sails and is suitable for 2 people. The engine also works fine. We had some issues with the furler of the headsail, but that will certainly be fixed. She has no autopilot, but the tiller can be locked in position. Doesn't replace an autopilot though when hoisting sails or reefing. Overall a good boat for two people for a week at an attractive price. Johann is also very friendly, helpful and pragmatic.
Perfect boat for a weekend in the archipelago, enough space for 2/3 people and all you need to enjoy nature and wind!
Clear communication with Johan, great value for money boat and spectacular sailing grounds ! Would recommend !
We had a great sailing experience on Acquarius. The boat is a bit older, but overall in good shape. Sails are new, GPS works well, kitchen is well functioning. Overall, comfort on board cannot be compared to a modern (2020s) boat, but this is clearly reflected in the price. The boat is perfect for a couple or a couple with children wanting to explore the Stockholm arcipelago. The only thing that seemed a bit strange to us (from the Mediterranean) that there were no life jackets aboard. Johan was very nice and accommodating, and explained us everything at arrival and departure. We can recommend the experience!
