We were coming from Lagos, Portugal (which is where I had filtered on in my Click & Boat search), so it was a bit far for us.

We had not been to Isla Cristina before but it is a lovely small town with lots of good shops and a lovely beach. There is a small quiosco near the beach called El Mirador Goyo which has mainly local people and the owners were very friendly. We will be visiting again. The marina is small and well looked after.

Ayamonte town has very convenient marina with an easy access, river, ocean, river delta with exit to Punta de Moral - another bay - exit to ocean. All that makes unforgettable experiences. A river Guadiana, that also is a border between Spain and Portugal, stretches out 50 km plus up to North and leads you to unique experiences to visit medieval castles on Spanish and Portugal sides.

Hire a boat with or without skipper

To rent a boat without skipper safely and successfully, it is essential have previous experience in navigation and plan the trip in detail. Check the documentation you need. In Spain, to navigate without a skipper on pleasure boats, it is necessary to have aNavigation License (also known as titulín). This license is valid for the management of boats up to 6 meters in length and an engine power appropriate for the boat. Followed by this license is theRecreational Craft Skipper (PER) license. With this qualification, you can govern boats up to 12 meters in length and navigate up to 12 miles from the coast, both day and night. Stay informed about weather conditions, carry appropriate safety equipment and means of communication on board. Respect the marine environment and consider cancellation insurance in case of unforeseen events. Safety and planning are key to a problem-free experience on the water.

If, on the other hand, you decide to rent a boat with a skipper, make sure he or she has experience, communicate your preferences and expectations, and leverages their knowledge to plan the itinerary. Maintain a participatory attitude, learn about water safety and respect the skipper's decisions to ensure a safe and pleasant trip. Maintain open communication

Renting with a skipper offers comfort and security with the experience of a professional, local knowledge and the possibility of learning. However, it involves additional costs, less control over the route and less privacy. On the other hand, chartering without a skipper provides autonomy, cost savings and greater privacy, but requires sailing experience, full responsibility and may limit access to local knowledge.
