Everything was good. Great team and service!
The boat was very nice and easy to handle. The company was informative and helpful.
Great day, great experience !
This rental was a huge disappointed. When we got there, contrary to what's written on the boat description we were told that this boat "cannot go" further than Positano, which is 30 min away from the starting point, because it was a too long trip. We were expecting to go to Capri and that's why we didn't rent a 40hp boat like there are many others available in the area. The equipment on the boat was ridiculous and again totally different from the description: - No gas gauge, just a wooden stick that you manually put in the tank to check the gas level. This does work, but this is very tedious and inaccurate... - No electric windlass and a terrible anchor, it was actually a grapnel with about 2m chain and only rope for the rest, so with the windy conditions, it was almost impossible not to drift with the boat - No GPS - No VHF - No autopilot (didn't expect that anyway) - All the mats on the boat were not holding in place (fasteners were all broken / weak) so we were told to put all the mats on the floor during navigation to avoid loosing them. This was painful. In terms of experience, it was quite bad too. We got presented the boat very quickly which was okay since I'm experienced but maybe a bit too fast for a less experienced boat driver. After leaving Cetara and arriving to Positano without issues, we cruised at very low speed toward the coast and the boat stalled a couple times. At some point, I wasn't able to restart the engine, turning the key had just no effect at all. This was a perilous situation since we were surrounded by other boats, so I had to rush to (manually) drop anchor to limit drifting. I called the company to explain the issue and they messaged me back some fix ideas about the breakdown. Nothing really worked, but after about 20 minutes trying to restart, the engine mysteriously started again. I was told to just "give it more gas" to avoid stalling, which is in my opinion bare dangerous when you travel among stopped boats. We did try to go further than Positano, since I was monitoring the gas level as much as I could and after all the boat could do it again, it is explicitly stated on the description that we can go to Capri with this boat) but after arriving to Nerano I received threatening texts from the rental company, saying that we absolutely need to come back and that we will run out of gas. I guess there's a tracker on the boat which allowed them to find out. On the way back, although we took all the precautions with the mats to avoid loosing them, the 30 knots wind in Cetara swept away one, which we did not even realize. We were charged another 150 euros for that, which I can understand, but the real root cause to my mind is really not us being reckless, but rather the fact that all the fasteners for the mats were broken.
According to the booking page, we ordered a 24 feet (=7.3 meters) boat with a 70 hp engine, but we got a 21 feet (=6.4 meters) boat with a 40 hp engine. This was a little disappointing and we did not get any refund for this. Otherwise, the boat was great and worked very well for eight people. The communication was very easy and the boat was clean.
Friendly skipper, easy to work with and flexible. My only complaint wiuld be that rwturning to the island the water was very choppy and i feel he should have taken it a bit slower. Our bodies were a little sore the next day. But over all great experience. Thanks for making our last day on the Amalfi Coast memorable.
