The trip itself went very well: the boat was great and the skipper was exceptional. But we had a very serious issue on the way out, it has cost me 2400 euros, and I felt it was not right. Here is what the summary: A few hours after departing on the boat, I went to get ice for our drinks and found that the freezer compartment of both two fridges were fully iced, with a bottle and ice cube bags stuck into one of them. I alerted the skipper and went to use a knife to remove the ice. I got the ice cubes out and we moved on. The next day I realized the fridge was not so cold… By the end of the week, the fridge was no longer generating any cold and I reported it to Katia Papadimitriou of Discovery Yatching upon our return. At that point, the technician explained that I had damaged the freezing system, which was not apparent, beyond the point of repair. Discovery Yatching announced they will charge me for a full brand new fridge, plus labor and bank fees. I acknowledged my mistake, and I tried to negotiate a fair share of the cost as, to start with, the fridges should have been in proper order. I got a rebate of 270 euros and was charge 2400 euros, so 90% for me and 10% for them. I had several hours in the port before leaving, and talked to a lot of people about what happened and clearly this was not a fair deal. I feel Discovery Yatching took advantage of the situation without recognizing any wrong doing on their end, and charged us for a full new equipment for their boat. Again the sailing experience was 5 stars but I give no star to Discovery Yachting.
Client made severe damage on yacht's fridge, completely destroying it and causing problems with next charter. His charter was skippered and without advising the skipper or us, he decided to make holes in the fridge to get rid of some extra ice. Fridge was brand new, and next client had to use a camping fridge with ice, since the replacement one needed one week to be delivered. Client thought that we should cover the cost of a damage caused by him, and took no responsibility as any considerate client should.
1. Charter company: very good. Contacts per whatsapp if necessary, fast response, good service, quick checkin and checkout. Informed us about 6bft wind forecast. No bad words. Thank you Katja and Linos. 2. The yacht (lagoon 40, fratelli). Only one power socket with inverter, no ice machine. Everything else is normal. No complaints 3. Others: dinghy has an unstable engine - on two days didn’t work at all, other days was trying to stop constantly.
Fantastic rental group, boat was perfect & extra thanks to Linos for his expert advice and guidance. Would strongly recommend.
Super friendly and kind client. He kept contact with us throughout all the charter and was very well behaved with our staff. We will be happy to welcome him on board next time! :)
