A wonderful boat for 2 persons, though cabins for 4 with 2 toilets but only one shower. Fridge was perfect for the two of us but would need a bigger fridge or an esky/chill box if more people for the drinks alone. The hired fan was only needed for one night which was hot (17 June) since couldn’t leave the windows open because of the mosquitoes. No aircon but didn’t need. Would be good if they had insect screens on the windows so could have fresh air in at night without worry of mosquitoes. Great boat to hire for a week or so. Everything worked well, the engine, the bow thrusters, the fridge, the gas cooktop, the lights, the usb ports. We managed to go off grid (no power or water until 3 days no problem). Hot water from the engine running so we made use of that when we stopped for the nights. Lights, devices, fridge worked no problems without shore power. If you stop in Carcassonne port, there is a washer and dryer for patrons use but you do have to pay by credit/debit card. Miscommunication with check-in, we could’ve checked in much earlier than 3pm. Starter pack of dishwashing liquid, hand soap, dish cloths, cleaning fluid, salt & pepper. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Went from Capestang to Castelnaudary (upstream) - most canal users seem to go downstream. Had no problems with the locks or ropes but best to hop off the boat at the designated landings just before the locks to do the ropes or you’ll need to descend via the ladders in the locks - make sure you have gloves to use the ropes, not only to save rope burns but also the ropes do go in the water and winding them up they are terribly filthy since human wastes are in there. You don’t need to hop off the boat before the lock if you are going downstream - you can just hop off in the lock since boat is at a similar level so some might find that more manageable. It was only the two of us on the boat (husband & wife in our mid 60’s) and had no problems with the locks but we are both fit and both have boat licences. There were plenty out on the canal without any idea of how to manage their boat and would just bang into others. No wonder there are so many fenders around the boats - it’s almost like a bumper boat rather than a bumper car!
