My story is one of passion, dedication, and a deep-rooted connection to the sea. Born in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, I grew up in a family deeply intertwined with the marine world. Despite my initial career as a computer science teacher and later as a graphic designer, the call of the ocean was irresistible. I studied computer science at the National University of Costa Rica, I worked as a computer science teacher for several years, but 12 years ago I decided to start a career as a graphic designer, created my company printing personalized items and advertising brands. My journey into sailing began when I met my neighbor Captain Jack, former owner of Surfari del Mar one of the best sailors in the area, who even at 71 years old was the grumpy pirate captain but passionate, smart and demanding with a big heart. I took some surfing tours to Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point in the sailboat with Jack and some friends doing photography and loved those crazy trips, learned a lot from those adventures that inspired me until I got my sailor's certificate, combining my job in design and taking care of my daughter Danna, and my nephew Pablo, who started working at Surfari at 17 years old. With a lot of dedication and effort I managed to gain the trust of Captain Jack and his wife and they gave me the opportunity to be part of the crew, sharing memories on each tour. The opportunity to acquire his sailboat excited me and filled me with nostalgia. It was an emotional and significant moment, not only because of the material value of the ship, it was because of the legacy and experience it represented. Captain Jack left us, leaving behind a void in the marine community and in the town of Potrero, but also a legacy of adventure and passion for the sea that I will never forget. Since then, we have sailed honoring his memory enjoying every moment on the water, remembering the lessons I learned from him about sailing, courage and love for marine life.
