Certainly one of the most beautiful places in Malta, steeped in Malta's rich history. Once the seat of the fleets of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta as well as the British Royal Navy, it has a rich Maritime history. Now home to some of the world's most prestigious Mega Yachts and pleasure craft at the beautiful Grand Harbour Marina, the quayside hosts a wide array of restaurants and cafés with a view of historic Senglea. The imposing Fort St. Angelo and the Inquisitor's Palace both house fascinating museums, and on the interior of the town, wandering around the cobbled streets to admire the Renaissance/Mannerist style facades should be on the itinerary of every visit to Malta. The Maritime Museum is currently being renovated, but promises to be another highlight.

Getting to the marina in Birgu was easy and there was plenty of free parking during the day near by the marina. The trip from the marina out to sea offers some great views of Birgu and Valetta on the way out that you wouldn't be able to get otherwise.
