Beautiful city, light festival was interesting and light-full. A lot of lights on the houses, hotels, streets and shops. Very nice Christmas atmosphere (but keep in mind there is no Christmas markets like in Germany). Iceskating of a good quality (unfortunately weather conditions were not very good so we didn’t want to skate during the heavy rein).

Beautiful city with lots of great options! Check out the Artis route too :). It is best to go with a boat you can actually manouvre easily in the centre. Make sure you bring a sunhat or raincoat in case you get caught in surprising weather. All in all there couldnt be a better way to experience Amsterdam.

It's a nice city with lots of canals and waterways. It's nice for a trip by boat, but you need to be careful with inexperienced motorboat drivers or harsh tourist boats. Anyway lovely city.

Rik was a great captain and host. Boat is beautiful as promised on the pictures. He is friendly, great in communicating and helpful on board. We visited beautiful canals, went for a swim in amstel river and stopped on the way for drinks and snacks. Rik is flexible, takes all wishes seriously and makes sure you have a great time. It is obvious that it is important to him that you really enjoy yourselves. Thank you Rik we had a blast!

Begin planning your dream charter experience in Amsterdam. Click&Boat offers you a free messaging system, so you can make deals directly with the boat owner and define every detail of your rental.

How much does a boat rental in Amsterdam cost?

When it comes to renting a boat in Amsterdam, there are a few factors that may influence the final price of the charter, such as the age and model of the boat as well as the season and the duration of the rental. So be sure to take these factors into consideration when searching for the perfect boat.

A boat rental in Amsterdam may cost as little as $150 a day but is around $300 to $1,100 per day on average. However, most boat rentals in Amsterdam are hourly rentals. So depending on your wishes, you can rent a boat for 2 hours, half a day, or a full day.

The price will vary depending if you choose a small motorboat or a luxury yacht charter. Additionally, if you book during the peak tourist season in the summer, the boat rentals will have a higher price tag.

Cruise through the Amsterdam canals

Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, with its picturesque canal network, rich history, and vibrant cultural background is one of the world's most unique cities. The sights in Amsterdam are endless and with more than 90 miles of canals. Amsterdam is the ideal city for a day on the water! Next to the many canals, Amsterdam is situated on the IJmeer, which is connected to the Markermeer. With over 1,500 bridges, Amsterdam has four times as many bridges as Venice!

Where can you rent a boat in Amsterdam?

All the boats listed on our platform are spread throughout the city center. There is no specific harbor where you can pick up your boat. Because of the many different canals, the boats can be found at different locations.

When you rent a boat in Amsterdam via Click&Boat you can agree on the location prior to departure. You can also rent a boat with or without a captain. With a captain, you can also agree on a starting location where they can pick you up. This could be on the IJ, on the canals, or on the Amstel. You could also take a look just outside Amsterdam. For example, you can rent a boat in Aalsmeer, Huizen, or Vinkeveen.

What to do in Amsterdam with a yacht charter?

There are countless possibilities when it comes to sightseeing in Amsterdam. Depending on the length of your rental period. If you would like to get the most out of your boat trip, we recommend renting a boat with a captain. He or she can show you the most beautiful places in Amsterdam.

If you would like to enjoy an independent cruise in a boat with friends or family, it is best to rent a sloop so that you are completely free to do what you want. Enjoy a nice drink with snacks while following one of the fantastic sailing routes in Amsterdam:

Amsterdam canal routes

  • Plantation Route
  • Red Light District Route
  • Rainbow Route
  • Culinary Route
  • Architecture Route
  • Berlage Route
  • Canal cruise

A real must is to rent a sloop in Amsterdam! The city's water network is like a spider's web. This gives you the opportunity to visit all corners of Amsterdam. Amsterdam's canals are a UNESCO world heritage site and both day and night the canals are beautiful. With a sloop, you can easily maneuver through the narrow canals and many bridges. Of course, you could also take a canal cruise on a canal boat.

From your sloop or houseboat, you will have a breathtaking view of the monumental buildings situated along the canals. A canal cruise gives you a fantastic view of the city with historic buildings, graceful bridges, beautiful houseboats, and people on the quay.

Wander around in the streets of the Jordaan

The Jordaan in the west of Amsterdam is one of the nicest neighborhoods in Amsterdam. The narrow streets and picturesque buildings of the Jordaan together form one of the most popular districts of Amsterdam, dotted with independent art galleries, antique shops, courtyards, and atmospheric bars and restaurants.

Visit the Museumplein

Get a taste of culture on the Museumplein! The Museumplein, home to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art, is the cultural beating heart of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Oud-Zuid is the perfect neighborhood for art lovers. On the open square between the buildings, there are many open-air exhibitions, markets, and a large pond where you can cool your feet on hot days.

Take the ferry to Amsterdam North

Few people visit Amsterdam North during their city trip. From Amsterdam Central Station you can take the ferry (free of charge) to Amsterdam Noord. At the NDSM shipyard, various events are organized on a regular basis. Amsterdam Noord has a lively cultural scene with many great restaurants and bars.

Markermeer and Marker Wadden

Would you like to explore the Markermeer and the Markerwadden? Rent a sailboat and go on the water! Amsterdam is located on the IJmeer which is connected to the Markermeer. The Markermeer is situated between the province of Noord-Holland and Flevoland.

On the border of the IJmeer and the Markermeer lies the island of Pampus. In addition, the Marker Wadden has been open to the public since September 2018. These five islands - four for birds, one for recreation - have been designed by Natuurmonumenten.
